Is it possible..without driving myself mad to swap out of a 86 22re 2x4,the automatic transmission for a 5speed trans and transfer case into that 86 2x4 22re truck. Does that make sense? And does anyone know if total kaos suspension is still in biz? Thanks

Are your trucks 2 Wheel Drive or 4 Wheel Drive?

You say 2x4 but then mention a transfer case. Do you mean convert a 2 Wheel Drive to 4 Wheel Drive?

Automatic to manual swaps and manual to automatic swaps have both been done in the past.

 

2wd and 4x4 front suspension and frames are totally different so this woulnt be a direct bolt on swap to get a 4x4. If you wanted to swap a 4x4 trans and transfercase to a 2wd and have a 2L crawl gear available, the transmission cross members are in different locations and that would have to be moved.

As far as Total Chaos, they are still around and making great kits but, you have to call them for the older setups because they usually dont have them made any laying around anymore for these older trucks.
