Yeah. Don't rev it like that!

Gee, I wonder what it means when the "engine light" comes on? Could your truck be trying to tell you something?

Read the codes. Then we'll talk. http://web.archive.org/web/201410310...26diagnosi.pdf (The Special Service Tool (SST) is a paper clip.)

Well did it end with a loud "BANG!"? Had that happen, dash went RED and gauges to zero. Found a rod outside the block and in the starter, and a hole in the pan. took a skyhook home. Could also be a broken crankshaft, spins but nothing happens.

That said the ecu has built in rev limiter at about 5 or 6k. So you may have broken a chain, and busted a valve.

Doesn't sound good.

now that I think about it the check engine light stays on before you start your engine so if it died the check engine light should come on because the key is still in the on position just not started I'll check for codes though and see May pull the valve cover off and check there too thanks for the reply

Put us in front of your engine compartment.
Let us know what you see, here, feel, smell, or not see, hear, feel, smell.

STOP!
Don't start replacing parts unless you are absolutely sure they are bad AND replacing them will solve your problem.
