Steering Box - Repair or Replace?

I've got a pretty significant leak in my steering box at the input shaft. From reading through here the rebuild is quite the project and should take the better part of the day, and a replacement steering box is pretty expensive.

Has anybody replaced just the input shaft seal? What parts would be required? I'm leaning towards a rebuild kit from Rockauto but I'm a little worried that my steering box with 370K on it may have some wear in the shaft which is causing the leak. Has anybody had any luck with the afternarket rebuilt boxes? This would certainly be the easiest option as I wouldn't even need to crack the thing open and hopefully it would last without developing any other leaks.. has anybody had luck with just replacing the seals? Trying to make the decision here and any opinions/advice would be appreciated.
