Throwout bearing issue

So i ordered a 1200# kit from Marlin Crawler for the 89-92 and figured all was good. Until today when i was going to install the engine! Looks like the wrong bearing was packaged and as usual for me i get the voicemail to call back later from Marlin.
Looked up on their site under release bearings and confirmed i had received the wrong bearing for the 89-92 4cyl truck.

Marlin bearing on left / Stock bearing on right.

Looks the same to me.

Without measuring it is hard to tell.

Or did you think you would get the complete assembly not just the bearing ???

I can`t recall for sure but most clutch release bearings come without the holder.

Finally got them on the phone and have the correct one on the way. My oem bearing is a one piece and the inner race has a large lip hanging out the front. The bearing they sent me is for the 88 and earlier where you press the bearings on and off

I prefer the bearing on the right. There are two different styles of bearings. The other style is similar to the one on the left, you just have to have the correct style clips to hold it to the clutch fork.

The bearing you have on the left is not the correct one to me as it looks like it is thinner the one I see most.

The bearing they sent is supposed to fit like the one in the link below. About half way down the page.

That is the other bearing that you can use. I have bought one of those straight from the parts store and it is not much. Finding the black clips for it can be difficult. I find those laying around in the boneyard I get them. I have used both styles of bearing. The other style, has an orange seal just seems to be a better bearing. Currently I have one of each in both of my trucks.

Ahh crap i put the new bearing in and put the motor in and its bolted in place. Now im just rethinking installing the bearing and i know its clipped in place but im not sure which way i turned the bearing when i installed the clip.
They sent a KOYO bearing so im not sure of how the clip goes in place either

Ouch, hope it went in right. Good news is KOYO is a great bearing to have.

Well i know the lip is out toward the pressure plate and pulling the boot back looking through the hole i can see the clip is in place on the back side. I worked the bearing on the arm out 4 or 5 times before i started the engine install. Im just not sure if the bearing has a rotational line up. Im sure its right but i didnt verify myself before the engine was installed....
