double row TC 22r strange pinge/clack/knock from driverside under cab

Hi this is my first post I've searched and searched can't find anything close to what I'm dealing with.
I have a ping going on at idle and while under load (not cruising with little throttle or at least i cant hear it then) when idling and looking head on at engine or on exhaust side it cant be heard walk to driver door its plain as day. Its a 5spd early 22r carb with dbl timing chain. Valve clearances are correct. Exhaust manifold isn't leaking from what I can tell/hear/feel

Anyone have any ideas on where I should look next? Transmission or downpipe I'm stumped. Any thoughts would be awesome!!!!

Pinging under load is usually a timing issue (too advanced), but if it's there at idle and more under cab on exhaust side then sounds like exhaust leak or interferance between exhaust and cab/frame?

Get under while idleing and really try to track down where it's comming from.

Timing. Didnt think about that. Definitely need to check it but its probably something hitting like you said. Someone made a comment about It being trans related but I don't see how that's even possible since its manual; or is it possible.

Not very likely trans related if it can be heard while in neutral, if it did there'd likely be no question it was trans related when you put it in gear and tried to go somewhere. exhaust leaks can sound like a ping. stock exhaust or headers etc.?
