2001 4runner rear axle swap questions.

I have searched, Google and many other forums so thank you for your replies in advance.

I have a 2001 4runner SR5, 4x4 3.4L

My plan for this vehicle is to swap a Deaver 62 inch rear leaf pack into the rear and a total chaos front long travel kit. I do mainly desert chasing and pre-running for a friends race truck.

My questions:

With the stupid VSC and ABS in this years 3rd gen IF I was to use a tundra, T100, or tacoma rear axle in place of the 4-runner axle what issues would I run into? I would love to remove all of the above systems but I am not sure what electrical and wiring issues would become of the removal. I am aware of the work arounds for these systems (VSC ABS) but if I remove the axle with the sensors what could happen?

Also what is the distance between Wheel mounting surface for the front of the 3rd gen 4runners with IFS? I dont want to use a T100 axle if it is going to be wider then a long travel kit.

What other Toyota axles would be close to the width of a long travel front 3rd gen 4runner? I would like to avoid spacers if all possible.

The reason for replacing the axle is that I can buy a used housing, have it trussed, re-geared, retrofit an e-locker, and have the whole thing powder coated. This will allow me to build it over some time.

I am set on losing the 4link thing that these have. I have already done all of my research on that.

Thank you guys so much for all of your technical info!

I am not much help other than to say you will lose your speedo when you ditch the abs *but* installing and wiring up a VSS is an easy job.

Consider this a bump to get some real answers to your questions.
