bah, i opened the cover on the turbo yesterday to look at it ( first time since it got delivered 3 weeks ago ) and the blades to the impeller fan are ˟˟˟˟ed up somehow. I called the motor place and they said they dont warranty or cover any "accessories" on the motor (alternator, turbo, etc) only the main block and that it had been almost 3 weeks since delivery so theres nothing they are going to do about it.

 

That sucks big time. Can just the fan be replaced?

 

That is ˟˟˟˟ed up man. You have not been able to make it very far without one thing or the other going wrong. Hope you can just replace the fan and you and Jason can finally get that thing rolling. Good luck, and keep us updated.

damn......ask if the motor can run w/o the turbo

 

something getting sucked into the turbo while it was spinning would cause that. There are three possibilities that exist


1: they got the turbo from japan like that and both jason and myself missed catching it upon initial inspection

2: it happened while they were cleaning/prepping the motor for delivery

3: it happened after delivery to me


#3 is out since it had a cap tapped on it the whole time ( you can check the pics, i NEVER took that off. i never even bothered to look into the turbo since i ASSUMED it was fine ) so that leaves #1 or #2, and either way i dont feel i should have to pay for it but i dont know if theres much im going to be able to do about it now. The guy even said if id called him the day of delivery he woulda felt much more inclined to help me out, which i understand but it still sucks bad

they took that motor out b/c the turbo was bad and you bought it with a bad turbo, and they sold it knowing they only had to warrenty the motor not any "accessories"

any way to straighten the blades?? i know you dont want chips of metal going thru the turbo. can you get a fan from japan?? can you take that turbo off and run without??
i know a guy who has a T3 turbo (i think thats it he upgraded and this is the original from a newer eclipse) if you can get that to fit, he was gonna put it in his chevy s-10 extreme but wrecked it and then was gonna sell to a friend who was gonna put it in his neon but now its sittin

 

I heard about ricers putting marbles in the turbos so the sound like bicycles with cards in the spokes.......LOL

 

Man that realy sucks. One thing after another to hold you up. One good thing about it you can get a bigger turbo if you want. You will have to get a loud blow off value so you can freak out all the eclipes that have the loud blow off values at the stop light. ha ha

 

That same friend that has the HKS has a great hook up on ballbearing turbos. If you want to upgrade let me know and I'll get prices for you. They are apparently the best of the best right now.
