Built a flatbed

Built a flatbed
I got tired of trying to find a tailgate for my truck and so I pulled the bed off and bought a welder and some metal. (pictures below)
I still need to do something with the exhaust, it is too loud. I have not done anything yet because I have to decide whether to go stock or buy a header. The PO built a pretty hot 22 hybrid then stuck a stock header on there. Also my wife is quitting her job and going back to school, so money is about to be tight! Other than that I just need to figure a way of controlling hot water to the heater core. There is no valve installed at this time, the control in the dash is attached to... nothing.
Here it is, since this picture I welded on some D rings along the side. I am thinking about a roll bar too.

I think I might try making something like this, except a little longer to carry my dirtbike, and with metal loops on it for tie downs. Then paint it black and rhino line the floor.
Edit: How wide did you make the main rectangle? And it looks like you used 3x2 tubing for most of the frame, is this correct?
Edit2: Did you seriously just "buy" a welder and start making that? Because those welds don't look like n00b work. I assume you had some previous experience?

X33 on the tire coverage and reinforcing that 'hitch.
Gonna need corner clearance lights too...finish up the welds on the two front sides and close up the corner left hole on the diagonal(upper).
Off to a good start. Headache rack or tie downs in the future

"x33". LOL yeah, everybody has a comment huh? To all with comments about the hitch, welds ect... I realize my post makes it sound like I was done perhaps. However, I have several things to do. Like finishing my welding on the plate and other parts, I'm thinking about adding a roll bar, and I haven't braced the hitch because I think I am going to shorten it some first.

Thanks, I thought so too. And, that is really my only answer to the questions about why I built it the way I did. I saw a picture of one like this online and liked the look, so I built it this way.

Looks like you'd be able to break your own rear window if a rock decided to come loose at the right time. My friend had that happen to his truck from a fenderless trailer and chunky tires.
