Hello Yotatech. As I am brand new on this site I figured I'd upload a few start up pictures of my truck. Being an avid outdoorsman/camper, I feel that the best route for my truck is going expedition style. Keeping my truck in great shape is also a reason ill be going this route. Unfortunately I dont have any pictures of the truck when I first got it but it was grey with those lovely stock graphics down the side with no real modifications. A few years later and here I am starting to actually put things together. Let me know what you think.

-Roof rack with lighting
-Shift boots, new shifter knobs
-Lockers
-SAS vs IFS debate.... long going thought process for the ideal setup of this truck.

That's a very clean Toyota. Did u paint it your self or have a shop do it? I also have the grey with peeled off graphics and want to repaint mine. I was thinking of doing it myself.

I live a little far north of there, Portland Oregon but keep us updated with your progress. Sounds like its going to be a sweet truck

 

What was the total cost of the paint? Before you took it in did you do any of the prep work to cut down costs?

 

I did some prep work but it was pretty much just taking the old graphics off. Total cost was $1,200 and they went through and painted everything including door jambs, taking the bed off and painting it and the cab separately, tailgate, etc. Great job for the money.

 

Plans sound great. Great looking truck and the work you have done so far.

May I know if you have stock transmission running those 31's?

Pls keep us posted on what rear bumper & swing-out tire carrier you're getting. I'm also in the market for one for my '86 4Runner.

 

Yes I actually do have the stock transmission. As far as the bumper goes, I'm leaning toward the custom route unless I can find one that is made out of rectangular tubing and in good price range which seems to be pretty hard to find. Let me know if you've seen anything out there.

Rad, I'm still at 20mpg average city/highway so it's not bad. What are you getting?

Thanks! That's good for 31's I think, so I'll definitely consider 31's when I replace existing tires.
I'm getting 20 mpg mix city/highway with stock size (235/75/15?). Did 22 mpg from So Cal to Shasta, CA and back.
