Some pics of a '95 4Runner work in progress

Bought this whip at the end of May with just under 240,000 miles on the odometer.

In the 2K miles prior to purchasing, the former owner (mechanic's girlfriend who works at the shop) completed an engine rebuild with timing belt and ALL the goodies, new brakework, several new window motors including the rear and window switches all the way around, new 31x10.50 ATs, new battery, new belts and hoses and came with a paid Sirius satellite radio subscription through the end of the year. Very minor rust on the vehicle, 5-speed manual with 4.56s and overall very mechanically sound. I paid $3100.

These are pics from Day 1 when I first looked at it.

Now my work begins.

I replaced the transmission fluid, front and rear diff lube, transfer case lube and engine oil/oil filter all with Amsoil synthetics. New air filter, new muffler, 4 wheel alignment, chassis lubed, new wiper blades and flipped the whitewalls inside.

The interior has had a major detailing. I removed all seats and yanked every bit of carpeting.

The rear heater which hides under the center console.

Power washed the carpet, then sprayed it with foaming carpet cleaner (FYI - Wal-Mart brand carpet cleaner works incredibly well and is less than $3 a can. It took 2 cans), used a heavy brush and scrubbed for a while, then power washed again. A day and a half in the 90 degree sun and it was ready to go back in.

The rear wheel well carpeting is dry and the first to go back in

All carpeting and front seats are back in

Used a Shop Vac with brush attachment to clean the headliner. More effective than I ever imagined. The entire ceiling was as dirty as the front left corner which you can see below, but the dirt got progressively darker toward the back window.

85% done:

Done:

Pre-wax and pre-wheel/tire work

White tire lettering turned inside, wheels balanced and alignment done, and several coats of wax applied

More to come...

Is that storage under your seat? All I have there in my 90 is the jack storage.

Thanks man! The front and rear bumpers need some work, and I want to replace the suspension set-up but couldn't be much happier with the find. Are you still on your orginal Tranny? Your rig sounds pretty nice from your signature.

No storage other than the jack space....that photo is deceiving!

Nice!!

WOW! That looks just like my '95. Picked mine up early June.. 127,000 miles and a huge stack of maintenance records. Even the original window sticker showing $31,897!
