I removed and replaced my instrument cluster with a sheetmetal assembly I made with some autometer guages. Is there a circuit in the cluster that is open that is tied into the charging system? Now my alternator won't charge. Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated.

I can post pics later, for now it is a 85 22r. I used polised aluminum diamond plate with 4 autometer gauges: tach, volt, water temp, and oil pressure. I wired them all individually per the autometer install instructions, so the factory wires are just stuffed back in unconnected to anything. I took a quick look at the scematic and it looked like if I connected the black/yellow and yellow/white wires that the circuit would be complete. Tried it with no luck.

 

my guess would be the charge light relay. i would just swap it out for a higher amp gm one wire alt.

Yep, offroad mostly. I live about 6 miles from the trails that my friends and I ride. All rural roads, so as long as I drive in the middle of the group on the way there my speed will be judged off of them and no inspections around here.
