Random Green wire with black stripe?

Ok I have an 86 4runner with 22re and auto tranny. I have found a random wire with no home. it comes out from under the plenum coming from the same section of harness as the fuel injectors and such. Anybody have a clue where it goes? Random green wire with black stripe all alone?

the only thing down there is the oil pressure sensor and the knock sensor

is your oil pressure gauge working?

Well i don't have an oil gauge. Just an oil light and as far as I know it works. Isn't the the oil temp sender near the oil filter? If thats the sender it has a wire connected to it. The knock sensor is in between the valve cover and the plenum right? If so then it also has a wire connected to it...?

Do you or have you had AC on this truck? It looks like it could be the AC clutch solenoid wire. It's in the right general area. Just a guess.

Just looked over a wiring diagram for 86 and it shows the green/black wire going to a simple water temperature switch (cold-grn/blk open, warms up- grn/blk grounded) but does not call out the function of the switch.

I wouldn't be too worried about it. Who knows, you might hook it up and cause a problem. lol

Toyota did use the same harness with all the plugs and what not regardless of options. I'm sure if you look around more you will find more "useless" plugs.

Like my center console rear heater harness.....

I've seen a couple different vehicles with roll up windows that had the wiring harness inside the door for power windows. Seemed kinda pointless to me, like why wouldn't they just finish the job, and put the motor and switch in? lol
