Tire Size Question (15 inch wheels)

What are the largest size tires I can put on my stock 15 inch wheels without having to do any other modifications and also without them rubbing? I have a 2002 SR5 4Runner 4X4. It's not lifted and has the SR5 fender flares (not the limited ones) and running boards. Thanks!!

Tire Size

I think, and someone will correct me if I mispeak, I am sure! , that the largest size tire you can put on there with no rub on a bone dry stock rig with 15" rims is 265/75/R15s.

Almost, the largest is 265/75R16's, depending on the rims you have. For 15", waskillywabbit is correct at 265/75R15.

How does 265/75/R15 compare to 31/10.5/15?

Depends on the brand...

Pick a tire you're interested in and go to that tire manufacturer's website. Look up the tire and check out the sizes it comes in. That will tell you the actual measurements (diameter and width) fo the tire.

From what I've seen, 265/75-15 is a hard size to find... most manufacturers make a 31/11.5-15 instead, which is basically the same size.

So either 265/75/R15 or 31/11.5-15 is the largest tire size I can go with that won't rub?

crap, sorry... I had a type-o in my previous post. it should read 31/10.5-15, not 31-11.5-15.

very rarely you can find metric tires in a 15" wheel at 265/75... most manufactures make them for a 16" wheel. You're best bet and the biggest you can go would be the 31x10.5R15 bc i honestly think to get a 265/75/15 would cost you more. I have no clue about the Chevy. I think i read somewhere that they come with 265's so i dont see why you cant get away with a 285 (or in your case a 33") they might rub a little though. Don't quote me on this, I know very little on chevy specs.

The answer to both is 31" tires. I test fitted a 32" on mine and it rubbed on the upper A arms.
