FJ-80 High Pinion

FJ-80 High Pinion
Has anyone eveer heard of or run an FJ-80 high pinion front diff in the rear of their trail rig? Seems to me that it would work, as you can switch front and rear diffs on an 85. My basic plan is front and rear high pinion diffs, stuffed with 5.29's and an ARB in front, Spool in the rear. I think it will work, but any info would be extremely helpful. Thanks!

Search ODW.
The history goes that Marlin used them and blew them up.
You would be driving the gear on the cost side since it is in the rear and that is weaker than using the drive side of a standard rotation.

True, but keep in mind, FJ-80 landcrushers are full time 4x4, so there is always pressure on the diff, and they last a long time in the front. It's not something ill be useing a lot on the street as it'll prolly be a trailer rig, but I will drive it occasionally. BTW, what is ODW?? And has anyone ever done this swap before?

FJ80s have a regular third in the rear, not a high-pinion. When you flip the front high-pinion third around to face the other direction you also change the direction the gears spin, in turn running them on the coast side when going forward instead of the drive side. There is no advantage in doing this unless you're going all out competition in a super light buggy, don't waste your money.
ODW is not the place to ask about this, the guys over on the PBB have actually been there done that. Most of the rear HPs left aren't Toy axles for a reason.

ODW most certainly had a thread on this very subject less than a week ago.
As I already said, 80's have hi-pinion fronts. You are talking about using in the rear in which case it would drive the coast side and be around 30% weaker.
