LOL Jason ... yea.... wow those are some stupid prices.. omg. 2 grand for a new T-case? EFFING KIDDING ME? LOL

To original owner, dunno what T-case model it is but its a forward shift, and if you had a shot of the rear of it (output shaft) ... we could tell if its gear or chain driven (I'm gonna go ahead and guess GEAR) ... but, regardless forward shift T-case's are less desirable because everyone WANTS the topshift models for their dual setups. You can convert these forwards to tops but it's not as easy as unbolting that top cover... but someone out there might want it.

but check out this page, very nice of Marlin to make this informative page for us. =)

http://www.marlincrawler.com/htm/tra.../tcaseinfo.htm

btw, you'll probably not get more than $100 - $150 for it. Thats what our t-cases go for, rebuilt or not. Hell I've seen people offload em with 4.7's for that (if you get the right guy whos in a divorce or something hehe)

sorry mate, you wont get a grand like the prices on jasons link!

tell the owner of that t-case to next time take it in for a jetwash. It might be fine and dandy, but when a part looks new and properly refurbed (hey, we are a shallow culture, looks can be everything!) ... makes things sell easier =) Just my opinion tho

might want to consider a top shift...

also to the OP, if you want to sell that 'Rebuilt' Transfer case, you will probably get more for it if you make sure all the bolts are torqued to the correct specs. One of those things is not even screwed in.

are this pictures before or after the rebuild???

far as I know, it came in all generations of pickups/4runners. I honestly don't know what was the reason for some coming w/ and others without. Only thing I can think of is maybe Sr5 models came w/ top shifts because they had the room w/ bucket seats?

My brothers 85 Pickup has a 40/60 bench and my 87 had a solid bench and both have forward shift t-cases.

Might I add, consider gearing your existing case to 4.7 instead doing duals. Remember you have all 5 gears in low =) Just food for thought

A lot of people find that 5th gear low with 4.7's in a single case is way too slow in between obstacles. Dual cases give you may more choices. With my dual case set up I will have 2.28 in the front case, 4.7 in the crawl box and than I can have 10.71(2.28x4.7) in double low range. Gives me a lot of choices. Even stock 2.28 in both cases gives you some great gear selection...

from the link I posted;
Forward shifts came out in 84-87 behind G52 and 54 trannies, Some w56 89-95 and R151F w/ 22RTE with a bench seat in 86-87

im more then likely wrong on this, but i have been told that the forward shift transfercases came in the 3rdgen trucks and 2nd gen runners, i think it depends on the engine also if it had a 3.slow or a 22RE. if i am wrong and some one who reads this knows.. post it..cause its always a good thing to know more about toyotas

Actually, I believe that the forward-shift t-case (like pictured above) came paired with the G-52 transmission. And from a list of facts i read somewhere (pirate4x4 I think) the G-52 transmission came with all carbed verhicles. the w56 supposedly came with all efi trucks til 95. i know for a fact that 1984 is forward shift. funny thing is, i think 79-83 was top shift...

look on the Toyota FAQs on pirate 4x4. soory, i been out drinking.
