Gears, Seats, Winch
So i just got this new toy, i plan on using it for rock crawling in the Red river gorge.
Where is a good place to purchase gears for the diffs? I currently have 4.10 gears, and would like 5.38.
I think im going to need a winch for it, i have no idea how large of a winch i would ever need however. What do you all use? Does it have enough umpa?
Also i plan on putting bucket seats in the truck, other than the excab, has anyone used seats out of other cars or trucks that fit well into the space? Ill make the bolts line up.

Welcome to the board. Try a search and do some reading on the subject about gearing and what not. Pirate 4X4 is geared more to the rockcrawling crowd. Whatever you do though DO NOT post a post similiar to this one over there or they will rip you to shreds. Can't tell what year exactly your Toy is but if it's got a Solid Front Axle looks like you have a good base for a nice rockcrawler. Ditching them tires for some good mudders would higher on my priority list than regearing it. My 0.2

The minimum winch most people run is an 8000lb and it does the job. The next one up after that is the 9000lb and then the 9500lb. Anything bigger than that isn't necessary for our trucks and they're expensive. I'd say, if you can afford it get the 9000lb warn winch, but if you can't, then the 8000lb should be fine.

I got my Warn M8000 winch recently from Clemson 4 wheel drive. They had them on sale for $499 shipped.

I have a 8000 lb winch . I got my front reese reciever from gowarn.com service was very good . I also made a custom holder for the winch so I can remove it any time.
Keep in mind you may have to change out batteries . I used the optima yellow top and 2ga welding cable with 175 amp warn quick disconnects..
With the reciever in the front and rear I can pull either way.

Thanks for all the replies, i like the idea of mounting the winch so it can go front or rear, i plan on building tube bumpers for the front and rear (so i can run into stuff) Unfortunatly the truck is an 87 so its not a solid axel, but its a good starter truck. I couldnt find anything about a reese reciever hitch on warns website, though ill will probably design my own mounting bracketry.
Thanks again,

There is a place in lagrange called Moab offroad. They would be the guys you want to talk to if you get your stuff locally. Don't goto 4wd of louisville out in the west end of town the old man there is an asshole. I can't give moab too good of a review yet because I ordered a OME steering stabilizer from them and they ordered me a solid front axle one instead of an IFS one when I told them the exact year of my truck. I want to see how they handle it from the message I left on their machine this weekend. I know at the moment there was a guy out there trying to sell a v6 thirdmember for the front with 5.29 gears in it and if i remember right a lockright in it for 500$. Might want to give them a call, I'm pretty sure their site is down still so look in the phone book... If you don't want to drive the 30-60 min drive to lagrange wait till the first of the month and they will be back in town right off of poplar level.
BTW i'm just curious if i'm right, Do you live mallgate. The apartments look familiar.
