after market intake?

so i have a problem. i have an 88runner with the 3vze. my fan shroud got all screwed up and flew into the fan. both of these things broke in various places and flew into the intake silencer punching a hole in it. so, should i get an after-market intake consisting of a cone filter and and new tube? will this affect performance positively or negatively in anyway? also, does anyone know where to get another intake silencer and if so about how much do they cost and how easy the replacement is? thanks

ide get an intake system. It will come with everything youll need. as for the system i would go with the AEM dryforce intake. youll have positive gains but they would be huge or anything

Unless you have a lot of money you'd like to spend, run a search on ISR mod. A number of folks (including myself) have done this inexpensively and effectively enough. Many ways to do it at a fraction of the cost.

Do the ISR mod. Its easy.

But dont expect any big gains from an intake on these trucks. I noticed a tiny bit better throttle response... thats it.

IF you decide to get an intake, I wouldn't do anything other than downey or K&N.

For the 22re, there isnt much you can do since the intake passes right beside the rad. Your best bet would be to do a batty/airbox swap then you can have a very short and straight intake from your stock box to your throttle body.
