Looking for custom setups or off the shelf setups (if they exist). I have a carbd motor, and i want to see how you guys with carbd motor raise your intake. RIght now I just have the carb with a air filter ontop...it gets soaked!!! what do you all do?

I'd say youd have to go custom...
If you could get a factory airbox (big round one) with only one inlet then hose clamp a flex line or weld a solid onto it and go up and out, you'd probably be alright. A good gaskey between factory airbox and carb, with a good gasket from lid to base should keep it pretty water tight...
Hope that made sense.

Im gonna give it a tomorrow...IM thinking about using mostly plumbing supplies (no kidding) But I mean Ontop of the carb i'll use a large rubber sleeve. That will get hose clamped around the carb...than a 90 degree PVC elbow will go into that and get clamed. After that i'll fab up some osrt of inline intake. Probably just extend the PVS as high as I can into the engine bay for now..as i dont feel like having PVC sticking out anywhere yet. I'l sure my brain will kick in tomorrow. Another part of me thinks this...
Run the setup like i explained above..but instead of haveing the PVC uner the hood...run it through the inner fender. This would leave the PVC between the fender and inner fender. Than cut a hole in the outer fender and have the pvc go right to the hole..but NOT out. THAN....Use some sort of ricer air vent to cover the PVC/hole. comments?

apparently, they make these PLENUMs..its like a peice that goes over the CARB for a custom ram air setup. That would work pretty darn good! off to autozone I go in the morning, than to home depot. Just have to figure out if i want the PVC in the fender with a cutout/scoop or not. REALLY want opinions for that part of it.

I'm planning to buy the ARB one for my 85 with a 22R expensive yes, but I figure with a few black silicone intercooler hoses it should it should look OEMish. I'm planning to use the stock air cleaner and maybe hammer a freeze plug into the manifold preheat riser. I might not. I'm concerned about the wake bulge washing into the stock inlet location not so much if I can drive the truck underwater

its actually not really a "snorkel" Its more of less just a system that uses a cone filter in an enclosed case. The carb motor has the airfilter just sitting up ontop of the motor...VERY easy to get wet. This will have a CARB plenum with a tube/pipe coming off of it. That pipe goes into aaluminum can, and the cone filter is in the can. You'll jus have to wait for pictures to understand haha

Well...some thnigs went well and some didnt. I got the plenum put on, along with the cone filter. Seen here:
BUT..I tried to drill the hole sin the aluninumm can and it just went to hell. I tried using a 3 inch holesaw, and it just wouldnt go through the metal! It would just grip the can and spin it. PLEASE help me..how can I get a nice round 3 inch hole in a soft aluminum can? The teeth on the hole saw are pretty large and spaced apart...maybe i need one with more, smaller teeth?
