Anyone have headers or exhaust systems from LC Engineering, Downey, or NorthWestOffRoad? Each company claims they have the best (i.e. 4 into 1 vs. tri-y). What results are out there in the yotatech community? Quality? Fit? Sound? Mileage? Performance? Durability?

 

Use the search option for each name or search for "Header(s)" , have not put them on my truck but you will get lots of hits for that search and find lots of opinions .

id have a muffler shop customize a header, it will be made to fit YOUR truck specifically, and it will be a bit cheaper(or at least out here it is)

 

I have a LCE header on my truck it is the 4 into 1 variety and I was concerned that it would not match the power band on the truck.

This concern was unfounded.

As it turns out it works really well and up to this point is the the best thing I've done to get more performance.

It also is very well made with a very thick flange and very good fitment

I did have to dimple the floor just above the collector flange slightly to keep it from bumping but that is the only thing to keep me from saying the fitment is perfect.

 

I have a Downey header. It didn't exactly fit like it was supposed to so I ended up taking it to a shop to have them get everything to line up. I installed one on my friend's 4wd and it went in easy. Its a nice header. I high centered on the cat coverter once, crushed my exhaust and the tube between the header and cat. It didn't damage the header, I just had the tube welded. I now have a chunk of steel welded to the frame to keep the cat from bottoming out.

 

and another thing...Downey says to use their POS header gasket. It's extra thick and blows extra fast. I use a regular gasket and haven't had a problem. Just need to re-torque it once after install.

 

Every vehicle I have ever owned with a set of headers required some regular maintenence in regards to keeping header bolts tight

 

Etown---nice. I live in IN now but I grew up in Lexington. One of these days, I'll fork the money over for a LCE header & hi-flow cat.
