Has anyone ever had their rear sway bar bushing pop out of the bracket? Heard this noise all day and when i looked under the truck (after i was done wheeling) i noticed that the bushing was just sitting to the left of the bracket.

Could this be from too much Flex--am i supposed to have disconnects for the rear sway bar on a 97 4Runner? HMMM

 

Mine used to do it all the time. I just removed the entire rear swaybar assembly. If you don't want to do that, order a set of front endlinks and put them on the rear. The fronts are longer and won't be as prone to snapping.

I have had one split apart and fall out once but never had one just pop out. Weird.

 

I've never seen or heard of this problem.

I just re-read the post and realized that I may have been referring to a different problem that I have experienced.

I have actually never heard of or experienced a swaybar bushing falling out of the bracket. I have experienced and heard of others experiencing their rear swaybar endlinks snapping or pulling through the mounting bracket. Sorry if my first post was misleading.

 

Put some Polyurethane bushings and brackets, in place of the stock ones and you'll have no problem with them slipping out, and as said above longer end links will help!!

So, this is almost like a newbie question--but do ya'll run disconnects on the rear or just longer links. Any benefit from running disconnects in the rear?

 

I don't run a swaybar at all in the back. Longer endlinks will allow the rear swaybar more range of motion as the axle flexes. Discos will allow you to disconnect the swaybar before wheeling preventing snapped endlinks. There's benefits to both I'd just rather not have to worry about it.

 

With my current lift set up, mine are just asking to snap at any momement.

 

eh, swaybars are over-rated, just take it off

 

There is no real benefit to disconnecting the rear sway-bar on a 4Runner!! Its been tested that you will only get about 1" more wheel travel with stock length end-links as to not have'n it connected!! And the same results were seen for the front sway-bar!! If you run your Runner more on-road then off-road, IMO your better off keeping your rear sway-bar!!

 

I've had the bushing pop out as well, I've never heard of using from discos on the rear, but seeing as how i have an extra set (took out front sway bar), I will definitely give this a try
