where for custom rear axle? 2wd 1jz p/u
i have a 93 toyota pickup with a 1jz motor.
right now it has welded supra diff in it and i HAVE to get rid of it. its super annoying and is eating up the good toyo tires i have on.
i was wondering if anyone can guide me to an article or someone..something..anything that can build me..or give me the knowledge to build...a complete rear axle. im pretty mechanically inclined, but as far as what metal/thickness/etc i dont know.
i looked at the fab9 stuff, but they never answered me back if there's were just the axle housing or the whole works. if all else fails i guess i'll have to find a 1ton 2wd with 5lug and put a truetrac in it.
thanks

Your best bet is to run a Ford 9" rear. I believe the best fit ones are out of a Ford Granada or and early Bronco. This guy put a 9" in his: http://www.tacomasrunner.com/index.html
The 9" has so many parts available so you don't have to worry about that. Also I guarantee you wont blow it up. Depending on what vehicle you get it from, some of them have the 5x4.5 bolt pattern.

or a stock toy 8".... Cheaper to find...
I think the 2wd's and 4wd's have same width rear axle. I'm to lazy to go measure tho =P .. Thro some chromoly rears in it and a truetrac. You wont break it.

drew...i was thinking that too. i didnt know if the axle housings could swap over all the 6lug to 5 lug though. i kinda didnt think they can. i'm not 100% sure though. but i'm sure diamond axle can make me an axle that'll fit with 5 lug conversion...i'd prob just have to make my own backplate or go with disc conversion.
