Question Axle Swap - Land Cruiser axle in 4runner?? Anyone?

I'm thinking about swaping the front/rear axles off a mid 90's Land Cruiser onto my 1986 4runner. Is this possible???? I've seen someone with the front LC axle under a 90's Runner.

Anyone ever installed a rear LC axle in their 4runner? I want to see pictures.... Links.... Any info... I've searched the web w/o results.

People have done both.

You have to either convert to coils in the front, or weld on leaf spring pearches.

The offset rear can cause issues, but people have made it work. Probably with a custom driveline, it would work okay. I know it's been done, and those folks have had good success with it.

the offset is on the pass side for both, so IIRC they had some issues with the gas tank.

theres a guy on MUD that has a 2nd gen with an 80 front. I was actually just looking at his pics, they are in the "wild wheeling post" in the 80 section, like page 11 or 12

That's a good point. Do you have pictures or links?

The rear axle is neat : full floating, disk brakes, bit wider (stability).

If he had a 2nd or first gen

He has a 99, so gas tank really isn't an issue. He would have to swap to a pass drop t-case though.

I'm pretty sure thats what the original poster was inquiring about. The build I posted a link to was using FZJ80 axles which are mid 90's cruiser (factory locker option). FJ80 are the pre '93 80 series. Either way, yeah thats like my dream build.

Feeling a wee but dyslectic bigt And don't discount IFS... TC spanks me at times with his IFS, no lift serious body armour and lockers....

The Runnin' of the Chutes in IFS (He spanked a few SAS's on this obstacle as well!)
