Engine still won't come out!!!!!!!

So I have my 22re totally unbolted and disconnected from the tranny but it still wont come out!?!?!? They are about an inch apart from each other and loose but just not coming apart. I have a theory but I still dont know how to remove this dam thing! My guess is that the pilot bushing or bearing is siezed to the input shaft on the tranny and its not allowing the input shaft to come through the clutch and pressure plate that is still bolted to the flywheel. So what should I do?

I once had to use 2 hydraulic bottle jacks to remove a tranny with a siezed pilot bearing.

If you try it make sure you apply even pressure and that EVERYTHING is unbolted.

I've used a tow strap on the output of the t-case. I then when to the back of the vehicle and straped myself up. slamed my fat but against the strap untill the tranny fell free. I supported the tranny with ratchet straps across the framerails.

Have Fun

It was 30 years ago so I can't remeber exactly but I think there was something on the engine or chassis that I used.

It wasn't a 4runner.

Jack up the tranny, get the stress off the transmission input.
Use a load leveler.
Wiggle.. Wiggle the motor while pulling.

I don't think it's likely that the pilot bearing seized if you've already moved it out an inch. You don't want to pry on it, but at this point if you've got it setup so that the input shaft isn't binding on anything, you could carefully pry at the top and sides of the motor (where the mounts are solid).

A load levler is important, as it's easy to pinch the tranny input.

I dunno what else to tell you.. It's it free 1" all the way around? Or more free at the top, bottom, side, etc?

Try renting a tranny jack, its usually so much easier with the right tools. I found this attachment to a floorjack works great and was only about $50:
