Nice Ray, looking forward to seeing what you do on those cargo sides. Are the washer bottle and jack holder permanently gone or are they just removed for the picture?

Thanks, Cory,
I hope everyone had a fine Thanksgiving weekend, and had burnt those calories already

Pics were taken while in-process. Rear windshield washer reservoir and pump, bottle jack storage and handle extension rod will be re-installed. I am deleting rear wiper and windshield washer. May re-purpose windshield washer/pump into:
1) Water storage pump, OR
2) Cajon/Tejon/Towne Pass cooling-system boost with irrigation spray nozzle in front of grill - away from air intake, of course

Deleted Hidden Fasteners and Streamlined Inner Side Body Panel

I detest hidden (pop-in) fasteners and
I hate having to remove other parts in order to remove / access another; in this case:
1) Having to remove the side window garnish just to remove the inner body panel, say to work on the speaker, etc.
2) Having to unmount the front seatbelt, and the rear passenger seatbelt anchor to completely remove the panel from the truck.
Solution:
I removed the pop-in fasteners, replaced then with nylon expansion nuts for 7mmx7mm hole and #8 finishing screws from ClipsAndFasteners.com.
I trimmed the top edge of body panel board by about 1/8 inch and glued the vlnyl cover back. Also trimmed the edge of the vinyl that wraps around the door frame and glued it back to the board.
I slotted where the seatbelt goes through the inner body panel board.
Notched where the rear passenger seatbelt anchor screws THROUGH the body panel board.

Original Mounting Holes - Round

Mounting Holes Squared

Expansion Nuts Installed

MODIFIED BODY PANEL

OK, OK... NoT only did I notch this - I BOTCHED IT- LOL!

BODY PANEL INSTALLED

Now I can easily remove or re-install for spares storage by using a screwdriver. No need to read the manual to figure out those stupid clips.

Cubby Hole in Side Body Panel

I disposed of the inner quarter panels to replace them with full door panels, and there's a nicely-placed opening between the front side panel and the roll-bar. Perfect for a cubbyhole (IIRC, the SR5 has a similar one but accessible by the passenger.) This one is accessible from the rear deck when camping in there. I think this would be perfect for pocket contents, phone, glasses, headlamp, etc. when camping in the back. I amy also put the rear window switch in there.
So, while I'm in there cleaning up the body compartment, I made an interim compartment out of foam. Should be functional now. Will make it pretty later...

It looks good, tidy and practical, easy and fast access to those compartments now.

Other thing I'd like to ask you, do you plan to install a popup tent on your 4R roof in the future? Do you like them?

No and no, because I don't want a $700 tent that I could not carry in my backpack to here...

Franklin Lakes, Mineral King Wildernes, CA

or here...

Ingraham flats Camp on Mount Rainier

or load on my kayak to here...

(Pelican North Beach on Tomales Bay, CA)

or take on a 10-minute walk to here...

Environmental Campsite above McWay Waterfall in Big Sur, CA

And MOST IMPORTANTLY... what if I've already setup tent and realize I'm out of beer? - LOL!

You've been in amazing places!
Ok, I understood, you don't like hidden fasteners, pop up roof tents and run out of beer I think nobody like the last one...

LOL! Yeah. Sometimes I check my email with my phone then start replying. Then, I catch my self. Screw this.... so hard to do any graphics or even post plain pics

On this day last year, I was standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona... on my Route 66 trip from so Cal to Mid-point in Adrian, TX... I would be happy to do that road trip again!

Turns out that the real story is:
Jacksone Browne's car broke down in Winslow Arizona.
He was actually on a corner in Flaggstaff Arizona when he saw a girl drive by in a pick-up truck. However, it was really a Toyota Truck! "Flat-bed Ford is just used to make the lyrics "...It's a girl, my Lord, in flat-bed Ford" rhyme.

Cargo Organization / Tie-Down / Sleeping Pad Storage

Cap mounting bolts doubling as (light) cargo tie-up points.

For Interim anchor, I used webbing straps stiffened with super-glue, melted clearance holes for the mounting bolts (8-mm?).

This is temporary and only to stow my sleeping pad or soft cargo against the topliner when not used. This would get it out of the way, and because it covers most of the width and length of the roof, will add to insulation from wind noise.

Yes, bolts were torqued back to 10 foot-pounds. I will replace with metal D-rings when I find the right ones.

CONTINUING THIS DISCUSSION HERE.

Selling my Rear Wiper Motor, Mount, arm and Step (aka parking)

I removed my perfectly-functional rear wiper assembly in excellent condition (except for surface rust on wiper are) because I want to make room in that upper-rear corner for storing my sleeping pad, and I had never absolutely needed the wiper.
$55 shipped to mainland U.S.

Been standin’on a corner in Winslow, Arizona myself. I used to transport motorcycles, based in Millwalkie, running out to California and Arizona in my 18-wheeler. Traced Route 66 many times. And when I had room, I would haul some nice rust free Toyota parts back to Wisconsin

SUWEET! I love the drive, especially on the actual old road. I did
between Santa Rosa and Cuervo, NM.
Wished to do the "La Bajada Switchbacks" but I did not have enough information and heard it's rougher so I did not want to do it alone.
