As the title says, the dome light doesn’t come on with the Drivers door open. Works fine with the Passenger door open.
I read it it may have to do with a buzzer being unplugged? But the old threads I found didn’t have any pictures. Something about a plug possibly behind the fuse box behind the drivers kick plate?
The truck does buzz when lights are left on after turning truck off to remind you to turn them off. Not sure if this is the same buzzer or not.
Door switch. Provides ground to the cabin light circuit, via its mount to the body.
test the switch for continuity to the body/ground while in both positions. Also try running a ground to the other side of the circuit.

Any ideas? ‘87 SR5 Turbo.
the light buzzer is different. it is the key buzzer that is associated with the dome light. if your key buzzer isn't working (and you haven't modified the buzzer), your dome light won't function. the buzzer is up under the dash, right side of the steering column.
as noted, if the door switch isn't working, you'll also get an inoperable dome. multimeter will help, or a test light.

Thanks. Mine is definitely plugged. I have MM and Test Light - will check it out later today and report back.

I don’t think the key buzzer works and I haven’t intentionally modified it. I’ll look under the dash today. I saw a female plug under there without a male one. Anyone got a pic of what the buzzer looks like under the dash in case this is it?

Just tested - it has 11.5V at the female end when grounded. What does this mean?
Also ran a wire from female end with V to ground and nothing happened. Does this mean it isn’t the switch and instead between the female connector and the dome light?
obviously pressing the switch while unplugged does nothing.

Hmmm....
Pls find out which side, male or female is connected to ground.
The side NOT connected to ground should have 12V when the connectors are separated. Pls remove the bulb. Does that side still have 12V or no? Do you have door courtesy lights? Do they work normally?
Take THAT SAME side NOT connected to ground AND has 12V. Connect it directly to bare, shiny metal metal body ground should make dome light turn on. (This is equivalent to grounding the green with red stripe wire on your horn.)
IF above does not work, either:
1) There is excessively high resistance between that connector and the negative side of your dome light. (Yes, you can still read 12V though the bulb filament when the connector is NOT grounded), OR
2) Your Turbo has fancy circuitry unlike the simpler 22R-E.

the key buzzer won't work if it is missing, nor will your dome light via the driver side door switch. it is a square black box, attached to a sheetmetal bracket.

I see a square black box that says O/D connected to a sheet metal bracket. Assume this isn’t it?
Also took pics of the the two plugs that aren’t plugged into anything.
Anyone have a pic of where the square black buzzer box should be? I’m looking under steering column. Could it be behind fuse box in Drivers kick panel? I haven’t removed fuse box to look and see (like where door lock module is on passenger kick panel)?

With the bulb removed, the red wire with white Stripe measures 12v.
The female side has 12v when removed (Male connects to the switch and is dead when removed)
Courtesy lights work fine.
If I connect female Slide with 12v direct to Ground (like horn) nothing happens. Wonder if I am missing the buzzer box completely (See post above)?
I hope you have better luck than I did with that seller. I ordered a set of seat belts from them. They sent me a set of torn belts that barely retracted

Makes sense. The 12V is coming from power feeding through the door courtesy lights.
If you remove the courtesy light bulbs you lose the 12V at that female connector, YES?

By "nothing happens" you mean nothing happens TO THE DOME LIGHT, but something happens to the courtesy light, YES?
If I get both YES' above^^^, I'm pretty sure the diode shown below OR the wires connecting it is bad.

Door switch will affect buzzer but I do not think buzzer will affect dome light function. See how properly-functioning dome light circuit works here.
