You've got an EFI 22re, not carbed 22r. What year is the truck? Harnesses changed some through the years.

It's hard to tell from the photo, is that mystery wire wrapped together with the tps and CSI thermo time switch? If so, that'll give people with the same year more info to go on.

I believe that would be for the AC compressor.

A problem well-stated is a problem almost solved.
Exactly where is the wire coming off of?

O.P.,
Put model-year-engine-transmission-trim on your signature to help everybody who wants to help but maybe thousands of miles away from you see what you have right in front of you.

I looked at my wires (85 4Runner dlx) and an engine harness for sale on eBay out of an '89 4x4 pickup and your mystery wire is likely for the engine coolant temp sensor. Do you have one and does it have a pigtail? If so, easy fix. The coolant temp sensor's green and it's next to your CSI thermo-time switch. 88 and earlier have a brown thermo-time switch, 89 and later are black.

The tps, thermo-time switch and coolant temp sensor are all bundled together in my harness and the one on eBay. Here's a photo of mine that I drew on:
Green wire: engine coolant temp sensor. Brown wire: CSI thermo-time switch. Blue wire: TPS.

Edit: my last post might not help you. I looked more carefully at your first pic and can just see the engine coolant temp sensor, a little bit of green is peeking out of it's layer of crud. Hard to tell for sure, but it looks hooked up right. If so, that wire you're holding is a 4th wire in that bundle and I have no idea where it goes.

My advice is to wait for a poster with your model and year. I'm out!
