MS Windows Update on IE isn't showing it as available yet.

Windows XP: Windows XP SP2 Delayed...again

Once again Windows XP SP2 has hit another delay. Although last night the SP2 team were partying at the "release of SP2" it wasn't clear what build was RTM and whether anyone had agreed on RTM. One thing that is for sure at the moment is that SP2 final will make it onto Windows Update/Automatic Update on the 25th August, anything before that (RTW network install etc) has been knocked back.

We'll bring you the latest dates as soon as the SP2 team have recovered.

Windows XP: XP SP2

Some sites are claiming that the final build is 2178 which is false since 2179 was compiled on the 2nd of August. Hopefully whilst writing this 2180 will have compiled on the 3rd of August and if Microsoft are syncing build numbers between their Windows Update 5 (2181) and Windows XP SP2 then 2181 will compile today as RTM, otherwise 2180 will most likely be signed as RTM.

The dates for release are as follows:

4th August RTM (2180 or 2181)
5th August RTW (release to web) & MSDN Subscribers - Network Install
25th August Windows Update/Automatic Updates release

Microsoft informed premier support customers that their own customers will begin receiving XPSP2 by automatic updates on the 25th August.

Here's the scoop

From Cnet.

I am holding off on getting it from the download center, as it will be buggy.
The best thing to do is wait until later in the month when it becomes available on the Update site.

I sure hope the pop up blocker for IE will be a good one.
The Google one is about as useless as "tits on a boar."

That was one of my dad's favorite sayings when I was a kid

I am about ready to uninstall the Google one, as it's letting in all kinds of pop ups now

I smell a MS conspiracy. They had everyone dumb down their popup blockers in order to make SP2 look good.
