Speakers for laptop

exactly my point about the audigy 2, it will give you great sound and lots of ports for multichannel sound... but... you have your desktop for that, and you're only getting 2.1 speakers... which is 2 channel, and your current on-board laptop setup provides that. oh, i don't deny that klipsch is good, but there is generally a big leap in price for a small change in quality. (personal preference, each has their own)

Yeah, thats my dilemma right now. I have a $45 gift certificate so I can get the Klipsch 2.1's for about $79.99 with free shipping, sounds like a pretty killer deal to me.
I'll also need to get one of those Y-adapters so I can get subwoofer signals too...so if I get one of those Y-adapters I'll be able to plug it into my headphone jack and get all the same volume and woofer response as I would wth the Audigy 2?

you can use a y-adapter for that... BUT, the plug in for the speaker audio will be right by your hand, and you're going to be unplugging it and plugging it in whenever you take the laptop to school and back. wouldn't it be just as easy to unplug the speakers, then plug in your headphones?
as for getting the same response with the audigy 2 using a y-adapter.. it will be slightly less, but so slight that I doubt a human ear could ever detect it.

I forgot that the 2.1's only need one plug-in...maybe the thing to do is to get the 2.1's see what is necessary, if I'm not happy with the sound clarity from the headphone jack then go from there.
That sounds pretty logical to me...what do you think?
