I thought it would be a cool idea to have it wired into indash video screen instead of reading a small display you could have something really viewable by all..

If you find how, let me know. Looking for the same thing. That would make my screen legal

If you happen to run a computer in your car it would be easy. I've been researching carputers for the past week or so. My friend just put one in his 88 RX-7 but he hasn't got the GPS stuff in the mail yet or I'd have more info for you.

If your on-board video is driven by a Windows based PC of some sort, there are a number of USB solutions around:

DeLorme's Earthmate is one of the most popular:

I've searched all over and I can't find a GPS receiver that would plug into a screen using RCA video cable. That is what the dash units on eBay use, I am finding.

Like this, e.g.:

Is there such a GPS with RCA out? I'm not getting any responses from the sellers who claim their screens are "navigation system connectible". Though I suppose a carputer outputing video via RCA would work.

last january, during CES, at the garmin booth.

everyone was checking out the new 2610 (then). and in the corner of this display case was this 7" unmounted LCD with a bunch of wires hanging from it.

so i asked one of their people there.

he smiles. it's an unmounted 26xx!!!!!!! it's meant as a aftermarket IN DASH system...

i'm all, "WHOA!" the dude explains it's a 3rd party working on a bigger screen for the 26xx series. the brain is mounted somewhere else and all you see is this LCd with a touchscreen interface...

guy wouldnt tell me who, what where...

i'll be back for CES 2005 so...

Kenwood recently released a product which is DVD driven and covers the entirety of North America. Yes that includes Canada and Mexico. Is it abale to be integrated using a single eca outout or using an rgb output for those with touchscreen displays. It's a nice piece. We have one in my wifes 04 Runner. She does however have the matching Kenwood Double Din Display so it was much easier for us. However it can be done.

I have a Kenwood DV3100 Navigation unit that plugs into the RCA inputs of a in car monitor. I am selling it if anyone wants to make an offer. I currently have it plugged into a Kenwood LZ-800W 8" monitor.
