best antenna for my car?

i have a 93 corolla 1.8 4spd
curently running cobra 29(modded) with a 250w amp talking off of a 80's k40....k40 is great but i am upgrading to a 40w amp and it will not handle the power so what antenna is best choice.
personaly i am thinking of getting a trunk mount wilson 5000.
keep in mind it must be trunk mount otherwise i will not have a good enough ground.
once the new amp is in i will switch out radios to a galaxy 959 adjustable rf power so i can push my new custom amp...
sorry guys i can not disclose what kind or where i have purchased this amp, the man who builds them only sells to locals

remember those mm's have the whip on them it's not just the base, and you'd be surprised at the reception on those things.

What ever you do DO NOT go mag mount.

don;'t get me wrong that wilson 5000 is a good choice too. If you have ground plane problems like it sounds you do, maybe you should look into bonding the body and stuff.

Had a Wilson 1000 with a mag mount on my 89 Corolla for quite a while then moved it to my dad's pickup always worked GREAT!!!! In both vehicles we ran it with a Uniden pc66 and at first a 250 watt fat boy amp, then a 500 or so, then a 900 or so. We also ran it with a General Lee and the last amp, I'd highly recomend this antenna

+1 on the wilson recommendations. for your current/future setup, the wilson 1000 should be plenty. the guys i know that run the wilson 5000 are generally all running more than 1kw, and they've had no problems with the mag mounts on the top of their suvs and cars.

if grounding is a concern (either trunk mount or mag mount) you can always run ground straps.

there are different models of the MM with different base and stinger lenghts, IIRC.

however - these are not really small ants, and they're not light compared to a base load whip.

IF you ABSOLUTELY have to go with a trunk mount with one of these, i would suggest getting a puck or some kind of backing plate to go under the mount so you don't bend up your trunk lid. some guys use sheetmetal (about the ga. of a stop sign) cut to fit the lid (or roof, if they poof the roof).

well i finaly went out and got me a wilson 5000, and it works great. i ended up having to drill a holl in my trunk in order for it to fit otherwise the coax hit my rear windo, but after a little drilling it is on nice and tight. i still have high swr's. 3 to be exact, but after a quick ground wire to a stud for the rear tail light it jumped down to 2 flat. i am thinking a realy good body ground will give me lower swr's as i need. right now im getting my galaxy 959 and amp fixed and i am running barefoot. but im told i sound great for being barefoot. i just need to do some searching for a good ground in the trunk, im thinking the rear seat bolts may do it. thanks for the info guys and ill keep you guys posted on whats going on.
