Wiring Questions
OK, all you car audio pros chime in!
Here's the deal, I'm looking to get a new 4-channel amp to power my 2-Audiobahn 4" and 2-Audiobahn 6.5" speakers. I've found a few amps that seem to fit my needs and budget, and all of them have more or less the same specs:
• 4Ω Stereo : 50W x 4 RMS
• 2Ω Stereo : 100W x 4 RMS
• 4Ω Mono : 200 x 2 RMS
My question is: How should I wire these speakers (all 4-ohm) so that I get the most power to all of them. It seems to me that if I run them in parallel and bridge 2 channels for each pair, then I'd be getting the 2Ω Stereo wattage shown above. True or false? Other ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Let me elaborate to say that by parrallel I mean:

although now that i look at it, it seems as if that's going to be showing a 2x4ohm load to the amp... opinions?

false.... edit: partly true to your question, but mostly no...
if you bridged the speakers so they would be at 2 ohms... then you would only have 2 channels
your amp specs are 100 x *4* assuming they put out 200 x 2 at 2ohm RMS, you will be giving your speakers 100w rms each... so yes you could do this, but 2 ohms is lower quality than 4 ohms, and in addition to that, i wouldnt recommend it...
if you really want to do that, then at least get a 2ch amplifier, cheaper, and could get more power for same price

just drew up in CAD... but it shows how you can wire to a 2 channel amp, which will do the same as bridging the speakers and the amp on a 4ch... but 2 is cheaper, in comparison to your 4ch amp

sorry cant make it any bigger while Im at work

hmmm, yeah I think i'm just going to go for the 50x4 rms. anybody have any advise on where to mount aftermarket tweeters? i think i'm going to have to surface mount them around the corner or the headliner and the a-pillar. my truck doesn't have the panels at the front of the windows, plus i think they'd sound better up a little higher anyway.

in theory, they should still be mounted close together.... in experience, they must be really well planned and amplified to make a difference, and they /seem/ to sound better with tweeters up higher....
but anyway, if you wanted to cut holes in door panel, that is always on option... but you may not want to, if you do a good job they can look like stock

basically, 50 rms x ch at 4ohm is good, if you feel you want more, either more $$$ and a bigger 4ch, or get a 2 ch, sacrifice quality in losing either left, right or front rear functionality
