ok now ive been told i need to run an 8 gauge wire direct to the battery for this deck, now do i just tap into the existing wire harness? if so woulndt that defeat the purpose since the wire in the harness is 16 gauge.

I have that deck in my Runner and the recommed 10 gauge directly to the battery. I have mine hooked up to my amps so I am just using a normal wiring harness. The reason for the 10 gauge is the headunit has a more powerfull amp than the regular stereos... But I ran it w/out the 10 gauge and had no problems. If you are going to be getting amps don't even worry about the 10 gauge. You won't be using the internal amp. But if you are using the internal the choice is yours.

http://thewholesalematrix.zoovy.com/ would have saved you another $35 on the deck but anything beats the $550 the stereo places charge for that Alpine.
I have the CDA-9833 on the way and hopefully will be in next week.
