What Size are the very rear speakers right above the roll-down back window? and Whats a good replacement.

 

They are 4'' but you can fit some 6'' easily without trimming the plastic.

Some people trim the plastic and put 6x9's but I hate it...

No blizzard, he is referring to the small vents above the rear sliding window. No speakers will fit there...save maybe tweeters but why anyone would wnat tweeters back there is beyond me...lol

Now in the quarterpanels in the back, yes you can def fit 6.5's in there.

 

I had a pair of 5 1/4" speakers in the cargo area panels and it was pointless. Nothing worthwhile will fit in the space in question unless you plan to use it for campground/out of vehicle-tail-gate-down entertainment. Even then it's a stretch, IMO.

Ahhh!

I've my tweeters there, it's a perfect place becouse they point directly to the drivers and passenger heads.

I love having my tweeters there, as they're titanium ones they are a bit loud, so I wanted to put them a bit far from me. In that position they're very very nice, and I love the sound coming from the front, side and rear of me (I've 3-way component speakers + subwoofer)

I figured That was all I could do back there. Right now i have a pair of Polk db 6-1/2" speakers in the back panel and i had to put an adapter bracket for those. I was just looking for soemthing good to put up above the back window because that is such a wierd speaker size its bigger than a tweeter but smaller than a 4" opening. Ill probably have to fabricate some sort of bracket to mount a set of tweeters up there. I was also considering wiring a set of component 2-way speakers and just mount the crossovers under the back trim panels somewhere and run the wires up there for the seperate tweeters.

(I have never liked sound behind me, hence my comment earlier. But hey, differing wants and desires make the world go round! )

Definately take the time to amplify your speakers even if you have to use a "small" 25 watt per channel amp. You'd be surprise how much better it will sound over a factory deck.

 

well here is a bigger problem that didnt arise until yesterday afternoon when I put my new head unit in. My old HU was an alpine. And I put the new CDA-9856 Alpine in which ended up having a slightly different wiring harness. So I changed the wiring harness, I cut the old one off and crimped each wire to its respective counterpart. I made double sure I had all the right wires matched up when i connected the wiring harness everything was plugged in nicely. Turned it on and the rear back panel speakers didnt work but the tweeters above the back window did. I cane across a wiring diagram and it shows that the tweeters and the back panel speakers are wired sorta like a component system so thats why i dont understand why the tweeters run and not the back panel speakers. Isn't it all run off the same speaker wires initially. I can make a copy of the wiring diagram and post it when I get home from work so someone else can put some input in because I am in need of some help.

Fixed it!!! Finally took the last resort of splicing into the wiring harness and ran wires straight from the harness to the rear speakers. that way the origional wires still send a signal to my tweeters but now I just have a different set running to my back panel speakers. wile i was doing that I went ahead and ran the wiring kit for my amp.
