Quick Amp Installation Question

Quick Amp Installation Question

Im about to hook up my amp and sub for my 99 4runner. I know i have the RCA's hook up into the headunit and go to the amp, but theres also a wire that i need to run from the stock wire harness to the amp... does anyone know which wire it is i need to splice into?? what color???

Not sure of the color, but I Googled 99 4runner remote amp turn on lead color and the first hit says you can use the electric antenna wire?

thanks for your help. ive read through, but it seems as though, if i splice into the electric antenna wire, its only going to get power when the radio is on, not the cd player.

could i just run it to a fuse that is activated only when the car is on? like the cigarette lighter fuse??

Yes, it serves to notify the amp when the receiver is on so it will activate. You can put it on a switch or lighter, etc. Just remember it will run when power is applied to it and sometimes you don't want it on all the time.

i got it all taken care of. i just tapped into the windshield wiper fuse and use the power from that.

your headunit should have a remote turn on lead thats what you want to use...that way your amp isnt pulling power for no reason if your radios off

wouldn't that mean that the amp would only turn on when it rains?

no, your windshild wiper circuit has power only when the ignition is on... this works...
