Wow, you're right! I never actually thought about it that way, I just drew it up the way I thought it would be ideal for regular use.
The good news is that you didn't say H2 dash. If it looked like that, I'd knock it all down and start over again!

Definitely a H1 dash. My best friend has one so I can vouch for that

I used Sketchup, it's a free formerly Google program that's kind of like an overly-simplified AutoCAD. I stumbled across it a few years back, I'm a big Sci-Fi nerd and wanted a means of getting the space ship ideas out of my head and into some form of reality. If I ever get around to it, I'll post up a picture of some of my favorites.
The thing to mention is that this dash has turned out considerably more organic looking than my doodles had shown. Fiberglass doesn't really do hard edges, so many of the square-shouldered features have become rounded curves. It's actually really nice.
I have some recent progress pictures of it on my phone, I just need to get them into photobucket for sharing.

That's good. AM General did well by the old HMMWV design, I think every motorhead likes them to some degree or another.
I've actually picked up a trio of military M-series switches that are destined for this project in the near future. That might add to the impression as well.
