I know it's been said countless times already, but this is an amazing fab job. Not only functional, but completely aesthetically pleasing as well!
I really dig the spare tire mount setup.
Great job, man, great job.

just did mine! but instead of sealing off the back behind the seats, i'm having a custom soft top made. for saftey i'm also putting in a 1st gen. roll bar! i have a feeling that the roof would crush like a pop can in the event of a rollover! love what you did, looks great!!

thanks for all the compliments. and as for the roof i think mine is just as strong as a regular pick up would be but i also plan on doing an exo sometime. do you have any pictures of your runner? and i think a soft top would be sweet and thats what i would have done if this wasnt dd and plus i live in washington and its always raining so its nice to not have to worry about little leaks.

here's a pic right after i chopped it, still have some minor finish trimming to do. found out today the soft top plan is out. the upholstery guy wanted to charge to much to have made. so now i'm back to my original plan, sealing off behind the back seats. as for rain, i wouldn't worry much, a couple of guys who have done this said the only time the had any moisture issues was with the pressure washer. my truck is also a daily driver, but i have 2 other vehicles at my dispense. i'll keep you informed of my progress , again, really a great project you have going there, keep up the good work!

did some work on the bumper today. started to get it plated in but i ran out of plate so its not quite done
my plan is to plate in this part
and make it so its like a box without a top to throw towstraps and whatever else in there

well i havent really done a whole lot to the 4runner but im starting to plan the next phase of the build and i need some opinions. i cant decide weather i want to cut the bed off and build a tube bed/exo or just leave the bed and build an exo around it. if anyone has any pictures of chopped 4runners with exos please post them and if not id still like to hear your opinion.

dont cut the bed off dude! This is pretty much the same idea im gonna kinda emulate of course a bit different since im dovetailing the front and have a bit different rear.
This is the best chopped runner ive ever seen and I know im not the only one to agree.
Dont chop it off
Ideas for you

well today i started getting some stuff ready for the exo. didnt get a whole lot done today but i got the front stock crossmember where the bumper bolts onto all cut out, and i got the new pieces cut that will replace it. 2.5" x 1/4" square, should be plenty strong and now i wont have to worry about the stock one bending once the exo is tied into the bumper. i only managed to get one pic here it is.

well i havent posted any updates for a while so i think its about time. i finished building the front x memeber, which im pretty happy with, ill take some pics tomorrow, and i also got my tube bender so i got started on the sliders, got one done then ran out of tube but i should have some more tomoorrow so maybe i can get them on this weekend. oh and i decided that i am going to cut the bed completely off then build a tube bed and cut out the bed sides from the original bed and use them as skins do it will have the it appears to be stock look.
