nerf bar modification?
wondering if anyone has tried modifying their nerf bars into a more usable item. bought my truck with nerf bars and was recently thinking of adding in two more mounts to the frame, making it a bit more usable. i'm not sure if the metal of the nerfs is thick enough to really take a hit. but as it is, they aren't really good for much as they can't really support the weight of the truck if i were to hit up on a rock or want to use it as a jack point for the hi-lift. should i even bother trying to mod these or just sell them and get some real sliders?

Are you talking stock nerf bars? If so, definately replace and upgrade. My friend just bought these for his jeep: Mad sick.

Also, if you're intrested in fabbing some of your own I have a few ideas I could share.

Leaving the "nerf bars" on will definitely hinder your ground clearance. Also the supports holding the bars on wont last long if you do hit something. It can actually cause more rocker damage when the bar is pushed up than nothing at all

I learned the hard way that the best use for nerf bars is in the metal recycling bin. I have had sliders for about 7 years now and I still have the damage on the truck body from the old nerfs.
