DIRTCO - I've really enjoyed watching your trailer build up. I'm interested in seeing some your ideas and details for sealing it against the weather. Are you going to post anything about that process?

Trailer is looking good Dirtco. I do have two questions. First, why do you have the drawer slides on their sides instead of where they have more strength. Or are they just a different type of slide than I am used to? Second, for the lights on the steps, are you concerned about stepping on them and thus wrecking them. It seems that you could put them on the vertical surface right above and behind the step to keep them out of the way and still put light where it is required. Not meaning to tear anything down. Just curious about the reasons. Thanks.

I really love the color too!

There's some pictures of the whole trailer a page or two back.

Thanks! I'm not done with the process, but I'll take a few pictures of what I've done the next time I work on it. It's nothing fancy but I hope it will get the job done.

I didn't plan on having drawer slides when I first built the frame, so I didn't incorporate a good way to mount them. These slides are rated to 300 pounds mounted in the standard position, and 100 pounds the way I have them installed. I will only have a small cooler and some dry food on the slide, so I should be well under 100 pounds. We'll see how it works, but I think it will be fine.

The lights are on the corner of the steps. I will be walking up the steps from the passenger side and the lights are on the driver side. They might get in the way a little, but if I step on one chances are I'll also be falling off the trailer. I aimed the upper light that way because it projects the light into the tent. I aimed the other light that way to match, and again to add a little more light on the tent.

Good work on the trailer. I have followed all of your builds and I am impressed every time!

What's the load rating on those drawer sliders when fully extended?

I read this whole thread and it would be extremely hard to remember every detail especially for someone as detailed as dirtco. Thanks for posting that up though.

Thanks man! Yeah, there's a lot of little details on the trailer that are easy to pass over.

I started the time consuming process of wiring the trailer, it’s going to take a while but I got a good start. Excuse the crappy phone pictures.

Started at the tail lights

Testing the tail lights…

And the brake / turn signals.

I got most of the wiring from the rear of the trailer ran to the control box, and started the process of sorting through it.

I also installed a small battery operated light in the box.

And where I’m at right now…
