it really is a good investment though, always useful no matter how many times you change the plan.

 

I know you haven't moved the tank yet. but look into the gap in the drivers side rear wheel betweent the body and the frame and look toward the front of the gas tank between the body and the gas tank. there you'll see a wiring harness stretched out and pretty tight. I noticed that a couple weeks back. the wires are going into the fuel pump and they are coming out of the body directly below the drivers side back seat bottom. there is an access plate if you pull the seat bottom up and pull the carpetting you'll find it. Looking through the gap is your wiring harness tight? tomorrow I'll try to snap a photo of it and post it. what you are talking about seems to be the same thing I'm talking about. I may have to go out and unsnap the clip too then.

 

Yeah, probably a bad title at this point! I'm just basically using this thread for my projects, because they all seem to flow together.

Well, today I swapped the 11 lb spool of wire for a 44 lb spool, because the Powermig comes standard to fit the wider spools. So, it should definitely last me a long time. Tomorrow, first thing, I'll be welding up my sliders in their new angled location. After that, I'll be cutting the rear section of my frame off, raising it 2", which as a result raise my rear bumper back up to the original height. If I can get all that done tomorrow I'd be really happy. Stay tuned for the pics!

Today me and my dad started running the wire from my main box to a subpanel in the shed. We got it all wired up to the box, and then my big floor lamp died, so we called it a night. Doc came over and really helped out too, which was outstanding. Thanks Doc! It's nice to have someone that's done it before. Tomorrow, I'll wire up all the receptacles, the switch for the lights, and the 220 receptacle. I'm also hoping to at least weld up my sliders if everything goes as planned.

Thanks to Doc, we finished wiring up my shed. It works perfectly, so I should be welding up the sliders very soon. I've got two 20 amp breakers for the receptacles, 1 15 amp for the overhead lights, and 1 50 amp breaker for the welder. Doc said it's overkill, but if I even need it, I'll have it I guess. Thanks again Doc for working on it both days this weekend. You're more than welcome to weld your entire sliders up using my welder if you'd like.

Do you know how to weld? I remember when your drop bracket came off. No penetration.

 

Yes, I know how to weld. The reason the drop bracket came off was due to the fact that we we're using a stick welder that had no gauge or anything. It was really stupid that I tried to weld with that thing.

On the other hand, my entire rear bumper was welded by me. Plus, I cut the driver's side panhard mount location off my axle, and re-welded a new bracket on there a long time ago, because if you remember I had jambed a bolt in it and couldn't get it out. So, I've been driving on those welds for a long time with no problem at all, and you know the stresses on that. It was welded with a 135 lincoln machine with flux-core wire, which is the same machine that the entire rear bumper has been welded with.

Nope, sorry about that! It will be the last thing I finish right now, because I may be doing some fender trimming, which will change some things.

I generally just do like McGuyver and use a car battery, jumper cable, penny and some bicycle tube filings to weld.

 

Well, yesterday and today I welded the sliders in their new angled location, and moved the rear bumper up 2" so it looks like it did before I did the 2" higher body lift. It looks as it did before except I now have more clearance under ths sliders and the rear bumper. I like it!

The result is the rear bumper is sitting 2" higher now, and the sliders are about 3-3.5" higher. Clearance baby!!

So, I just talked with Joe Darlington, and he's going to be in town from March 14th - April 20th, so he's going to bring over the Isuzu gas tank for me. Hopefully, between now and then I'll get the FROR skidplate/crossmember installed, my stock crossmembers removed, and the gas tank relocated by the 18th for my ride at Windrock on the 19th. We'll see what happens!
