Free RTI Ramp.

Well my brother and i work at a Fabrication shop(mainly pipe line other random Vessels for Oil and Gas storage and such. We also build some random structure items on occasion. My little brother is a welder here and i am their IT support guy(at least the army taught me something useful).

Well he got bored and wanted to build an RTI ramp. He was gonna just cobble it together out of scrap so i told him if he is gonna do it it at least has to be close to useable and not look like total crap. So he had some scrap steel he got permission to keep and we started with a down loaded design from a quick Google search.
We didn't really use the design at all we just used it for me to scale it down to use what steel we had access too. so our Ramp part is a little over 7 feet long. and i believe it is 50" at the top of the ramp. we are gonna build more of a stop for the top so we don't accidentally drive over the back side of it.
We also are going to add a few more Gussets when he slows down back there and we get a couple longer pieces of scrap steel to use.
Well here are pictures of it as he welds it up. It ain't perfect and more is as a test ramp to test and measure shock lengths and such.
have not driven a truck up it yet as I have been riding my RC51 to work he and has been driving his 300 instead of his cherokee.

I am gonna run home at Lunch and Grab my truck. so i will take a couple of pics of it getting tested then post them here tomorrow. once the Ramp is solid it will get moved to out house and painted with Rustoleum so it looks decent.

I think the grade it ascends should be higher. Other than that, nice.

This is where I got the dimensions from then modified the numbers to suit what we had to use. I plan on making him build a full size one whenever I get extra money to buy the steel with.

Needs wider footing IMO. Looks way to unstable to drive a vehicle up on.

it has a piece of Angle welded to the I beam on the bottom that is as wide as the ramp is tall. And we are still in the works on making sure it is safe. The first couple of attempts going Up it will be in my Brothers Cherokee. That way if it Breaks it won't hurt my Yota!! He welded it.. It should be his job to test it.

and pics of truck on the ramp.

The ramp had no side to side flex even when I backed up it with barely any tire on it. and with the longer cross brace my brother add the ramp had no flex in the middle like we were worried about.
