Flippin the axle?
Hi guys this is my first post on this yotatech. Im new to trucks but not to vehicles
Any who I have a 1994 2wd pickup with long travel front suspension, but the rear seems to be stock. I wanted to lift the rear to get away from that cali lift look. Long story short a guy told me I can place the rear axle under the leaf springs and that would give me like 4 in of lift. So I tried it and things are not working out well.
The driveshaft is too short now, it is like 4 in form the diff flange. Also, the bases that are welded on the axle dont match up the leaf springs with out me rotating it 180 degrees. So, is it possible to this axle swap thing or should I just put it back above the leafs and do an add a leaf? If I do add a leaf will my driveshaft be long enough?

Get the driveshaft lengthened, most any driveline shop can do that for you. Not sure what you mean by the "bases that are welded on the axle don't match up the leaf springs with out me rotating it 180 degrees", but if you put the spring perches directly above the existing ones, then they should line up just fine.

u gotta buy new spring perches and weld them on the top of the axle tube(opposite of what u have now) be carefull of too much heat when burning in the welds. sorry, with a spring under axle add a leaf will lower ride height.cannot (flip) axle

Hey thanks for the quick replies. Im glad I joined this forum.
So, just get new spring perches and weld them on. Easy enough. Is there a trick to getting the correct angle or anything, or just eye ball it?
Also where do I get the perches from?

Ok so far so good. I did some reading and found out what the best angle would be. Now my last question before I tackle this job tomorrow, should I flip the u-bolts so that they face upwards? Or can I leave them facing down so that I can easily mount the shock? If so can the U bolt be clamped down directly on to the leaf pack?Im thinking it might not work because the U bolt is a U shape and the leaf pack is more of a square shape. Any thoughts?
