custom hitch

hey i was wondering how hard it would be to build a hitch instead of buying one?

pretty dang easy... they sell recievers at the local metal shop here, im sure other metal shops do too.. the part that goes into the reciever is also sold.. you just need the part the ball goes into bent for you, then weld it to the square tube.

well i've never seen one custom built so i dont know exactly how to build it. if i can see how then i wont have any problems

What are you going to be towing? How are your welding skills? Alot of weight gets pulled by a hitch. The nice thing about buying one is that you know its made right and weight rated.

When your done a good way to test it is to tie it to a tree (a strong one) and try to drive away. Do it a couple times, then try it hard, like back up get some slack and give it hell, to replicate being pulled out of a bigmud hole where heavy forces are needed.

i really dont know what i would be towing. i would just like to have one for when i need it. my welding skills are good. i'll keep that test in mind.

Just look at a store bought one and replicate it. It’s really not that hard. Just take the initiative and do it.
