And the Friday night campers could meet up with the group at the "old airstrip" parking area which is on the right after you turn on Crown King Road. This would be about 20 minutes from the above meeting point.

This is a good idea. It will allow everyone to get to the Lake Pleasant area however is most convenient for them and its easy to find as well.

Ok sounds good. Are we going to be able to get to this from I-17 or will everyone need to come in another way?

Its off Carefree Hwy, so I would be going the same way you would, up 17 then west on Carefree. Assuming the interchange is still "open" everyone could go the way they normally would. Those in N Phoenix or on the west side could go up 99th Ave/Lake Pleasant Rd to Carefree Hwy and then turn left. I guess this is an alternate for anyone, but super far out of the way for me. One more good reason to camp at Lake Pleasant friday night and beat the 10pm bridge demo.

Remember the demo is happening this weekend. But I would expect traffic to be slow along that stretch for a while. The people at ADOT said that there will be restrictions in the future. They aren't sure when or where at this point. It all depends on the construction schedule and progress. The SR 74/ I-17 interchange may very well be open on the 29th, just didn't want everyone getting stuck in traffic from some other ADOT blunder and have a repeat of the "Bee Line Highway Incident".

Coming from the East Valley...I will probably take the 101 west, past I17 and then just go North up 99th ave area up to Pleasant. Its a bit slower but traffic that way is not an issue.

It will be good to see you again Duncan. No, I don't believe there will be any back-road night runs this year.

Thats right! I forgot about the flat.

Good thing those "mule" vehicles don't fit in a standard Toyota bed!

**I was just informed that the band has been canceled for the night** - apparently Crown King saloon double booked both the band and a Sadie Hawkins dance event and they cannot do both at once. It's too bad this happened, I know they were really looking forward to playing up there and we all re-scheduled this trip to see the band. I apologize for any inconvenience...

It makes no sense they (Crown King) didn't figure this out before considering both events have been on their schedule/website for weeks now.

I will no longer be staying overnight.

That's a bummer Brian. Both the cancel and the stay.

As for me, I have to work Friday evening and Sunday evening.

Since I have done DeSoto before, I'd be happy to lead anyone interested in hitting the CK back road on Saturday, and then just continuing on to DeSoto... getting home late Saturday night.

If no one else is interested, or if all plan to stay at CK overnight... then I may pass on this particular run just due to work constraints (and the fact I have run it many times )

Maybe we can get a couple different options going depending on everyones schedule so there will be something for all.

Where does Desoto start/end? What kind of time does it take? If we went all the way through would it be feasible to get back near CK again in the evening to stay up there? I've got no reason to be home saturday night, but don't know if I wanna hang out in CK all day since the band thing isn't happening.
