Arizona Roll Call

Alright...so, I'd like to do another run before it starts heating up again. We know Butcher Jones pretty much only goes to the second cove. So I'm guessing that kinda limits that area. I've been on WOODPECKER, but I dont think its something I'd run my rig through in its current state of build. If I had a locker out back then I probably would. I know someone here has to have a book of some sort that has trail listings and info....so please chime in....
I'm thinking a 3 rated trail on the Roger Mitchell scale would be good, perhaps maybe a moderate 4... I just wanna wheel is all. Can we put something together with at least 5-7 rigs...more if there's willing participants.

I'm headed to CK the wknd of the 14th. I might be in for a Table Mesa run or something close if its sooner than that. I'm finishing the rebuild of my front end this wknd - tie rod ends, pitman arm & idler arm / brass bushing rebuild.
Need an alignment BAD.

Pulled the driveshaft from the SC'd truck last night to have the u-joints replaced. (clicking sound after about 10miles of driving coming from under/rear of truck) Took it up to TAD Driveline off of Deer Valley and they were super cool, said they didn't look bad at all and greased 'em up for me and sent me on my way. Would have been easy to take my $220, good shop! Still not sure if it's solved, gotta put a few miles on it today. (praying it's not my axles/gears) I greased 'em before my Sedona trip, but I think I missed the one in the middle of the Double Cardan.

Speaking of snowboading - if anyone is ever interested in going, let me know! I go every chance I get and I know alot of places that provide transportation to and from both Sunrise and Snowbowl. And I have a few extra boards, and other extra gear too.

Planning for Sunday
Well, Jeff and I were talking this evening and came to the conclusion that most of the time Sunday works out for everyone. So Sunday looks to be the day for this run.
I threw out doing WoodPecker....but I know it's kinda dicey for some but a locked 4Runner with at least 31's should do fine. However, I'm not locked at all only running 32.7" at best. But I'd still go...

Should we start a plan? Where to meet and whatnot?

I believe it is, though I'm not 100% certain. Again, I've only be there once and it was a blast. I just wish 87 DeathTrap was able to go. He and 3-linked led the way when I went with them. I hear they're wheeling on Sunday too...maybe I can convince em to lead us..?

I prob won't be able to meet up until around 10 am though, my shotgun has a meeting haha!

Yeah, 10:00 am sounds good as a meet time. We just need to figure out where...I know theres a couple of fueling stations out where the 60 fwy ends, mainly a SHELL. And then we could head from there...
Still haven't heard back from Nate, but I'm sure he's busy....

My steering parts have not arrived yet so I am less than 50/50...we'll see. FWIW, a group of us are going to Crown King next Sunday the 15th for a morning run to have lunch at the top of the hill.

Oh and as to where it'll be, I've been convinced that WoodPecker might be a little to much for some. So now I'm thinking something like Martinez Mine/ Cabin...?? Any other thoughts...Again, I don't really care where we go, just that we go.

Just a heads up, Martinez Mine is rated at a 5 IIRC (difficult & dangerous), but a lot of fun if you're up for it. Martinez Cabin is a 3, I believe, and is a pretty scenic trail with a cool rock garden at the end (right before you hit the mine trail).
Another option would be the Coke Ovens by way of the 79. It's also rated at a 3 and has a lot of cool obstacles along the way. Both have moderate challenges but are do-able with a stockish rig and good driver. Just my $0.02.
