I have a guy here on the West side who's going to do my bumpers for FREE! (I gotta buy the steel tomorrow though)

If you like how mine turns out, I'll see what he would charge to do custom for others...

I built this one at a muffler shop with two dudes who spoke NO English for $200 plus steel.

I take my truck to Hunter off road in tempe. He does awesome work and is really good to work with. I actually worked next door to the place so that's how I found him. I would upload a pic of my new bumper but can't from my phone

Ted (snowshredder555 here on the board) works for this shop.

http://www.avidoffroad.com/#

I don't have any of their stuff yet, but have heard nothing but good things. Also, the welding Ted did for me on a seperate issue was excellent.

I've also had a bunch of stuff done by Sonoran Steel and the welding is topnotch, but Steve doesn't do alot of one off fab from scratch stuff. He will try to fit people in to his slow times, but you'll have to work it out with him.

Scored a new spare tire on CL today.

If anyone wants the old one, it's theirs for the taking. I doubt the tire would get you a mile though. It looks like it is original to the truck (i.e. 21 years old)

Basic Toyota OEM 15x6 wheel with a crumbly 21 year old Bridgestone tire. Free to a good home.

+1 for Avid. I've got their step bars on my Tacoma (made by Ted), and they are top quality stuff. The bends are clean, welds are beautiful, and they fit perfectly. Plus, if you don't know Ted already, he's a great guy that will bend over backwards to help out, and I've heard the owner of Avid is the same way.

Wow guys! Thanks for the props!

I'm currently building a set of sliders today for my 3rd Gen. Decided to go with the rear kick out because it gives that extra space to push the rig out of harms way plus a great step to reach items on the roof.

We recently finished a project for Angrybob, still waiting on some pics....aaahhheeem....cough, cough!...but I know hes been busy. His was completely custom and I know for the price, we blew away any competition. Hopefuly he chimes in soon.

If there's something you'd like done, we're really competitive on price and we build for strength....asthetics just happens to work it self in with the final product.

I recently started a build up thread so if anyone wants to follow along, I'll post pic's of what I've done today.

Then I will pull the lights off the roof to see what if any difference that might make.
New model FJ Cruisers get almost +2 mpg by removing the roof rack. That would be my first step too...maybe remove the whole thing for now.

Started tearing in to the anthracite 4runners engine today to get everything current and dialed in.
Pulled the air filter 1st and found a puddle of oil under it. Not cool.
Pulled the airbox and all its appendages out, and ended up dumping about 1/2 cup of oil from all the various boxes and hoses!

Cleaned it all up, put back together and ran to O'Rilley for new plugs, filter, PCV valve and radiator hoses.

I'm really hoping this isn't a major issue and the PO just overfilled the oil once or something!

Anyway, fingers crossed all is well.

Heading up to Chinle Saturday to explore and be away from the NYE madness!

+2 on Avid Offroad.

Ted and the owner made a badass custom rear bumper w/ tire carrier for my 4Runner. They also fixed the rock sliders sin from the previous owner. Great craftsmanship.

I'd post some pics but my connection to photobucket is FUBAR right now.

Holy Moses.....aside from the box on the back, the owner or who ever showed great vision with ingenuity and completion. I kinda like it if for only that reason.

Yeah when we seen it we were pretty amazed. The idea was cool, to bad the execution process totally failed.

Can't believe I've owned 5 4runners and 2 Tacos and never done the hitch-flip mod before....took all of 30 minutes and should help keep me from scraping out so much! (Sedona in the SC truck this weekend made me think of it every time we scraaaaaped!)

maybe......

Alright...so, I'd like to do another run before it starts heating up again. We know Butcher Jones pretty much only goes to the second cove. So I'm guessing that kinda limits that area. I've been on WOODPECKER, but I dont think its something I'd run my rig through in its current state of build. If I had a locker out back then I probably would. I know someone here has to have a book of some sort that has trail listings and info....so please chime in....
I'm thinking a 3 rated trail on the Roger Mitchell scale would be good, perhaps maybe a moderate 4... I just wanna wheel is all. Can we put something together with at least 5-7 rigs...more if there's willing participants.
