So I'm selling my fiances Trail Blazer (because as we all know...they don't) and shopping around for another 3rd gen or a FJ60-62...has anyone else noticed everyone on Craigslist has their Yotas priced as if there's a kilo of coke in the back? $6k for a stock 2wd 98 with 200k? Are you KIDDING me? You want to have a laugh, go look around CL this week! (or maybe I just got an EPIC deal on my truck and now I'm spoiled...)

Looks like a great truck except for the spooled rear. Being at high altitude I like having the EFI, but for a vally toy it should definitely get the job done.

You have been spoiled with that supercharged 3.4.

I'm not sure I could ever drive any vehicle with a 4banger either - even though there are some 4 cyl motors that put out way better stats than my crappy old 3.Slo

Yea, I haven't been driving the runner lately...mamma decided she likes the "big truck" and has commandeered it for the last few weeks, so no SC joy for me!

Funny story, I was was on Union Hills the other day in the Trailblazer, stealthily admiring Assyrianrockers rig at a light when my girl pulls up beside him (and me)in my truck and then BLAZES off when the light goes green....I had to call her and give her crap "baby, I "know" that guy....he's gonna think it was ME driving like a dick!" LOL!

Lotus comes to mind with a stellar 4banger....lol.

not to mention beating the ˟˟˟˟ out of your tires on the street. Spool = trailer IMO.

That does seem like one bad ass trail rig though.

I totally agree....I looked all over the valley, state of Az., and into So.Cal....people took 3-5 to respond to emails...mine was listed for $5900.00 and talked him down to $4100.00. Gave him a screen shot of KBB private party and trade in value, both were as if the vehicle was in PERFECT condition and reminded him his wasn't. I was willing and cleared by the wifey to go as high as $5000.00...he accepted my offer. Most people base their values off of what they see others listed at...some that I've looked at get all pissy when you tell them the seller asking the high price usually settles for a fair offer. Totally check the vehicle out...I spent about 45 minutes just lying under mine before I even started the engine. Oh yeah....check it while it has a cold engine....I've never looked at one and seriously considered one without hearing it start from a cold engine....you can hear a lot as it warms up if you have a keen ear.

From CL add:
The rear end is permanently locked for better offroading.
Thought spooled was a permanent (welded) rear axle. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Spooled and welded work exactly alike but a spool is a part that can be removed and the diff can be returned to original condition if desired.

Spool:

Welded is just as it sounds. You weld internal parts together inside the diff and it has no choice but to turn both sides constantly. Inexpensive but permanant.

Oh I see now, thanks for clearing that up. I knew it was similar but I wasn't sure if 'Spooled' was a term used for a welded axle for 100% power to both wheels. So it would seem I was wrong and it's simply a welded axle. Now I can be less of a noob.

Where are we on the Hackberry trip for the 27th? It'll be on us before we know it.

Who's in? I am.
When and where for a meet up?

Mike

It's also referred to as a "Lincoln Locker". When the spider gears are welded to the axle shafts/ carrier.
