Arizona Roll Call

we took 2 jeeps and a 2009 taco with a 4inch lift . it took all day but it was fun. its not a 2 thats for sure more like 3 to 4, couple of spots we smacked bottom, it can be done without getting any dents with a good spotter and careful manuvering (spelling) but if u have at least some sliders or no worries about dents its a fun trail. expect a good amount of rock rash on the tires

I have a few friends that want to go to Butcher Jones on the 17th (Sunday) - anyone down? So far its going to be myself, my friend Matt who has a 99 Land Rover, possibly Nic with an 86 4Runner.
If anyone else wants to roll with us let me know!

ooohhh, i suppose i could go....again.
Of course you can count me in...it'll give me another chance to make it up that hill you had to strap me up. I swapped out my T-bars the other night so she rides a little more plush..so hopefully no more frontend wheel hop while under load...I guess it helps that I didn't crank on em' this time. Didn't have to to get it to the right height.
Jeff- When he gives me the stuff, I'll text you and I'll bring it by for you or give it to you next Sunday...any way you want to do it. Hopefully the rain stops today. Gotta make the frame mounts for my sliders, then finish cleaning em' up before welding em' on. I'm a little excited to have this happen to my rig...finally getting her armored-up a little bit. Next will be a front bumper then maybe a rear one...with a tire carrier. Oh yeah, what time are we gonna meet for this next run?

I think the best place to meet is at the Chevron that is right across the street from Ft. McDowell Casino on the Beeline Hwy (87). Here is a map:
http://maps.google.com/maps?near=104...1&z=14&iwloc=A
The last few times we have gone out there we have been meeting up at 10am. That gives us plenty of time to get to the trail head, air down, play around and still visit the first 4 coves then get us back to the parking lot in time to air back up and hit the road while it is still light out.
Hows that sound?
Does everyone have a CB? I have one installed in my truck and an extra hand held one for anyone who needs it.
TED - did ya get the bugs worked out with your CB?

Nope...been working on the sliders and the Torsion bars...t-bars are done, frame supports are welded up and waiting for a dry day at work to weld em' on...but they'll be on there for the next run...my welds are suckin' poopoo right now...but they're strong, just not pretty. CB- I will have one for this run, weather I use the one I got for Roni or am able to fix this one.

Just my opinion...so please dont take it personally...my fiance is staying home for this run and she knows why. Here's what I told her I didn't like....she told me to not go here, not go there, or do you have to go that way, or can you slow down, do you have to drive so fast....all this was at the trail all day long...it wore me out just listening to her....dont get me wrong, I'm marrying her and I can see she has a point if we're on the street...it's just dont bug me while I'm wheeling or complain about my driving...especially if you're riding the bit*h seat...I told her she could drive but she refused...then do me a favor, get in, sit down, buckle up, hold on and ...you know the rest.....This is the first time she's complained this bad and I honestly think she forgot how rough it could be. And no, I'm not an A$$hole to her...I just have my limits and when I'm out playing in the dirt I like to relax abit. Okay, I'm off my

Hope she can make it with us...

Na Mike, wasn't saying she was...My Fiance' use to love going with me and until I finally found the 4Runner, it'd been a couple of years since she'd been out with me. And after the baby, she thinks everything should ride cadillac smooth...NOT gonna happen with my budget and though I have tamed my driving down alot, I still like pushing the vehicle pretty hard. Last time out with Jeff, I misjudged a turn while trying to multi-task and stuck the front end into a bush that stopped the 4Runner pretty much dead in it's tracks. I thought it was funny...obviously she didn't.
Anyhow, on to your dilema...isn't there an earlier service she can go to? Or is she kinda just stuck there.? With trail runs, Jeffs' pretty open to any time but I'd like to hear what he has to say and other's as well...I'm ok with it, but it's gonna cut down the time on the trails.

Ted hit it right on the head - I really don't care what time we meet up, the more the merrier - BUT more people means slower progress. If we were going on a Saturday I wouldn't care what time we got back to pavement, but most of us have to work Monday morning so getting back at a reasonable time is important on a Sunday.
What we could do is either have lunch before meeting, or do that while waiting and airing down. Then bypass the first 2 coves; head right to the 3rd since we have to drive through it to get to the 4th, then see what time it is then. If time permits, we can stop at the 1st cove on the way back - the 2nd cove is pretty small and boring IMO. There are alot of fun hills to play arond on in the washs between the 2nd and 3rd coves and the beginning and the 1st coves.
Another thought is for the rest of us to meet at 10 like planned and go out and play around on the hills and washes between the the 1st and 2nd cove; then around 12ish (or whatever time) I could head back to the Butcher Jones parking lot and meet up with Mike then take him back to where ever we were at that time - that gives everyone time to play around and really work some of the trails that are new to them while I bring him back - I really don't mind doing that at all because, again, I go out there all the time. I just want to meet more fellow Yota-friends and make sure everyone has a good time and gets to do everything they want to do. Plus Mike and I both have CB's so as long as someone else in the group has a functioning CB we should be all set.
So with all that, like Ted said - I'd like to hear everyone else's input. I honestly don't care because I go out there almost every weekend anyway so a short trip this time is no biggie to me. I think my biggest concern overall is what time would Mike S. realistically be able to meet up. if church isn't over till 11:30, I think meeting at 12 is a bit unrealistic. Mike mentioned meeting us out on the trial, but honestly, there are so many trails, and so many ways to get from point A to B and we don't always go the same route, it might be difficult to find us unless you know your way around the area well.
Anyone who is interested in going with us - now is the time for you to throw in your 2 cents please cuz I'm taking up a collection

Mike S.- Ya see....I told you he's a pretty good guy....he's willing to come get you and bring you back to where we're at so as ya don't get lost or have to wheel alone. Sounds like a darned good plan to me. Way to problem solve Jeff!
By the way, I have to say this now. But while attaching my new sliders (Woohoo) to the 4Runner today, I noticed my idler arm had about a half inch gap where there shouldn't be. So unless I get that fixed I'm gonna have to change my status to tentative...the cost of the part being my only concern...no problem pulling the old one off and putting the new one on, just the financial portion of it. However, I'm told there not very expensive but we'll see.

Ok, picked up the idler arm and it was only $41.33. So now I just have to put it on, paint the sliders and fix the cb. Then I'll be good to go...
Jeff- Who do we have confirmed for sure...I'm in now for sure.
