GWNF in may.

any of you up for a GWNF ride maybe mid to late may, i was thinking maybe like the 21-23. i know the ttora guys are doin one the first weekend, but thats in the middle of exams here. we could even do a day trip, though i know i would want to stay the night down there. it wouldnt have to be anything difficult, that way everyone would come.

We have a CORE4x4 meeting on May 16, I'll see if anyone is hitting the trails on May 22. With the upcoming weekend club trip to Uwharrie on May 28-31, I'm sure there will be those of us not going wanting to hit the GWNF.

Where were you thinking, German River Area or somewhere else? I'll look around to see if any other area clubs will be on the trails that weekend. I'd like to try to avoid those trails which the clubs are hitting. It's not much fun and progress is slow when you start getting more then 8 truck on any trail at one time.

We haven't started planning anything yet, but as we were leaving troy seaflea was saying how he has a firend that owns some property with a couple lakes and tons of trails over the property. He hasn't talked to him in a while or something but maybe we could cordinate on a run and have PRIVATE trails... we could split into a couple groups if we had too many people, but that wouldn't be a big problem. Keep an eye out on our thread. I'll try and remember to post up here if we do end up doing anything.

What is GWNF and where is it?

GWNF is george washington national forest, its nothing compared to uwharrie, but its the closest trails we have.

its a fairly fun trip. Jason and i went up last summer for a big toyota get together there. Theres not a whole lot of technical trails to ride, mostly just stuff through the woods and creek beds. There were one or two hard trails that i didnt even try with my truck at the time b/c there were obstacles you couldnt even dream about without a good lift and dual lockers but 90% of it was just cruising around. Its a LONG drive from raleigh. If im going to spend that much seat time again id rather go to tellico.

Guests are always welcomed on any trail ride. There's a form or two to fill-out, waiver of liability stuff and medical info. Forms are available on the website. I want to go to Uwharrie, but I don't think this trip will work. Our first baby (a girl) is due hopefully this week, definately next week (the docs will induce labor). I'll keep you posted.

Darn. The 21-23 will find me in OBX. Maybe next time.

Ian,
Two days after our daughter was born, the hospital called and asked when we wanted to come in for the induction (planned before she was born). It was kind of funny explaining that she had been born just a few days prior in that same hospital.

Looks like NOVA Jeep Assn is taking a group numbering around 30 Jeeps to Peters Mill, Dry River and Kephart on Saturday, May 22.

No meetings in the works yet, but I'm trying to see if anybody wants to go up to EC4RJ in late June. Am probably going to the drive-in this coming saturday but probably can't coordinate with others since it's a whole day kinda deal...
