Softopper.com

I recently bought a soft top for my gen1 4runner from Softopper.com
I roll all summer with my hardtop off and hated using tarps when it rains. The canback and killertop were out of my price range. I am in canada. So i got the top shipped to a postal box across the border and picked it up, installed it in about 20 mins and drove it back. Mounts into stock holes, no drilling anything.
Total cost:
$711 cdn shipped to usa
- $15 saved filling up in gas while i was across. Canada gas is outrageous
So it came to just under $700.

It has a very simple dual support beam that folds back like a old convertible car. Then has a cover, So everything is on board and together.

The back window has a metal bar that clips into the sides. To keep the back window tight but also allows everything to sit on it when folded back and still use the tailgate.

Its no louder then the hardtop. But the truck feels alot lighter, and i removed the glass in the tailgate to lighten it up that much more. No wind noises or anything. Very well made.

Its been about 1 month now and i love it. Even comes with seam sealer for the seams if they leak.

That's a really good looking rig! I always wondered if you had to install buttons on the back tailgate for the rear flap.. thanks for the close up of the support bar!

It's hard to tell in the pics - do any of the support beams require the factory rollbar?
I'm getting raed to build a full hybrid cage, and think I may want one of these some day.

No, none of the supports or fabric touch the roll bar.

I had one and I LOVED it. Especially for camping. I could load down my rig and with that ST on it was a perfect weight. My old fiberglass ones were so heavy.
I plan on getting a new Softopper for my 82 as soon as it is built!

I am on my second summer with mine, and I love it.

Its built like a boat canopy, so its easy to unsnap and drop it down, or just roll up the sides and go safari style.

And it actually made my exhaust quieter on the freeway since the fiberglass top doesn't seal everything in.

When I have the soft top on is the only time I get comments on my rig.

Trust me, you had more comments THAT day ever in the history of your truck...stuff like: WHY would you take such a NICE SMOOTH vehicle here??! Or, we can't go that way 'cause of Jasons soft top...

I still took it out, no matter how pretty it is. And I made the rain and sticks work out just fine. And those are NOT the comments I was talking about. DORK.

Yah i am still loving mine.. did a 3 week camp/off road trip this summer.. top is still in perfect shape.

I figured out if you un snap the inside straps and unclip the 2 back straps. It amkes it soo much faster to put on the next time.. i am down to 1 minute to convertible and about 2 mins putting it back up.
I love it.
