Winch mounting

Ok this is gonna sound real dumb, But i am about to order my winch, How exactly is it gonna mount up in my TJM 15 thats on my 97 4runner. Does the winch come with a cradle or something. I looked at the bumper and all i see is a big hollow space behind it

A lot of the TJM bumpers require an additional bracket for the winch, mabye yours is one of them? Winches typically mount with 4 smallish bolts.

Runnerboy,

With my TJM-15, I've got a slot which the fairlead attaches to, and four holes which the winch itself bolts too. I just dropped the bumper, bolted the winch on the ground, and slapped the bumper back up. I think the aluminum bumpers from TJM in particular need brackets, but it didn't appear that mine did.

I just got the same exact deal, you shouldn't have any trouble mounting the winch, its a little time consuming. Most time was spent trying to figure out where to mount the box and running wires to the battery.

mine was super easy, I just had to remove the bumper, to put the winch in... then one wire to negative, and one wire to positive. easy...

4 bolts hold it in place (too lazy to take pics)

Do you also have to rotate the free-spool lever around when mounting them into TJM bumpers?I have owned a Warn 8000 lb & now own a REP8000E in an ARB,and have found that the Warn's are much easier to rotate the lever than Ramsey's.
